deforestation

A study found the logging of forests in the U.S. state of Oregon emitted 33 million tons of CO2 – almost as much as the world’s dirtiest coal plant.

This is an example of why it is so vital to stop deforestation while pushing on with reforestation.

While it is important that on an individual level to offset your carbon footprint and become carbon neutral, we need to ensure that companies and countries do the same. And preventing deforestation, and instead rewild land is essential to this.

Not only would this help to remove harmful carbon dioxide, but it will help to stop the horrifying loss of our wildlife and biodiversity that continues to this day. Nature needs more wild areas of forest, meadows and wetlands. Unless we reverse the losses of these vital habitats, we won’t stop the declines and more animals will go extinct.
